Final Results
Change of material:
While purchasing the link material it was found that the cost of SAE 5160 Steel would be prohibitive for the project and so the change was made to T1 Structural Steel, which was more readily available, but shared the same structural properties and heat treatability.
Change of Rivets Length:
After redesigning the rivet housing, the rivets were not longer long enough to adequately clamp the links together. Because of this, new rivets were ordered with a shank length of 0.750 inches rather than the original 0.625 inches.
Final Dimensions:
Link material: T1 Structural Steel
Cross-section of links: 1.25 x 0.25 inches
Overall length of each link: 15 inches
Rivet material: Stainless Steel 301
Rivet head type: Flat Head
Rivet shank diameter: 5/16th inches
Rivet shank length: 0.750 inches
